modern rustic ii

two more very small paintings [15cm x 15cm] from the grid series of twenty five paintings.thinking maybe the rusty hulls of moored boats or the weathered tarpaulins at southwold harbour filtered through in my textural colourations?i found one picture that seems to relate: [one of my photographic found paintings]two things [or notes to self]:[1] thinking about where these paintings are now, far far away in massachusetts, made me think about the first pilgrims setting sail on the mayflower because curiously there is a local family connection to one of the passengers. that area of the USA, the six US states of maine, new hampshire, vermont, massachusetts, rhode island [& with a red - it's a rooster!] and connecticut is known as 'new england'. massachusetts was much larger but then it got divided up into smaller states.[2] found this article very early this morning, What It Really Takes to Be an Artist: MacArthur Genius Teresita Fernández’s Magnificent Commencement Address [via @brainpickings], and much of it really resonated with my personal philosophy, such as embracing the 'awkward' failures, acknowledging imperfections and making new connections, making progress by following your own pathway of interests and valuing the personal 'internal successes'. i might have to read it again.
